The Role of Affiliate Networks

A marketing tradition where in a certain business or entity rewards appropriate credit to one or more of their affiliate members for each referral or visitor or customer that they were able to bring through his or her marketing efforts is basically called or referred to as Affiliate Marketing. Under this Marketing practice, are 4 major players or individuals namely the affiliate merchant, the one responsible for implementing a system which is called a sales tracking system which provides a selection of different linking methods, monitoring different results and of course payment to its’ affiliates, the publisher or the affiliate, the customer and of course the affiliate networks. In our everyday lives, it is probable that we have encountered affiliate networks in the past, but we are just not aware on its proper term, or we are not aware of the role it portrays. What are affiliate networks and what are the roles of these networks?
Just like a bridge which acts as a connector of two separated places and like a USB cord which acts as a media or port to transfer files, upload and download documents and the likes, affiliate networks acts as intermediary, agent or mediator between the affiliate or the publisher and the affiliate program. It is the one which provides services, such as segregation just to mention an example, but basically these services varies depending on to whom it will be offered, either to the affiliate or affiliate merchants. Services provided by affiliate networks to affiliate marketers can include payment aggregation so that affiliates will be able to keep track of his earnings or payments he or she have received, reporting tools and even one click applications to new merchants. While the services that it provides to affiliate merchants are tracking technology, this from the name itself means that it is a system that helps merchants to keep track of their members or affiliate actions, their affiliates’ referrals and other transactions that their affiliates enter into.

It also allows different users or publishers to be able to join the different affiliate programs, this will allow them to generate large amounts of income and thus allowing every online merchant to get in touch with a large or wide range of audience or members by promoting or advertising their respective affiliate programs to each user or member in a specific network.
Through this so called affiliate networking and affiliate marketing, internet surfers or users were able to receive great opportunities to earn high incomes, what they need to do is to bring referrals or new members to the affiliate program, then that’s it. The more new recruits or referrals an existing affiliate bring, the higher amount of money he or she would have made. That is how great these networks are, very effective, profitable, efficient and helpful not just to an existing affiliate but also to upcoming or interested members or affiliates.

What To Know About Affiliate Networks

The process of affiliate marketing includes the use of affiliate networks and programs in marketing other products or websites while getting some compensation in return. More and more people are now using this as other means of getting extra income. However, there are still others who still have no clue about this, especially about networking.
Affiliate networks, in a nutshell, act as a mediator between two or more affiliates and affiliate programs. Another definition is that they are a network of several affiliated merchandise from several businesses or companies on different categories or niches. They are usually offered to a group of affiliate marketers for promotion purposes with the use of a program and tracking software. Since not every individual company can handle or run an affiliate program, networks are then used in the promotion of their products.
While some use affiliate programs because of higher commissions and easy-to-use features, others would still prefer the use of affiliate networks. They usually take care of the usual problems dealt with affiliate programs, such as inaccurate tracking, late or no payments, and even dead links or ads. They also help people in concentrating more effort in generating more traffic than in maintaining one or more affiliate programs. They also provide various online tools that can help affiliate marketers optimize their web performance, as well as access to several hundred affiliate programs in one handy location.

When one is using or planning on using more than one affiliate program, it is best to use affiliate networks.
There is no limitation on the number of affiliate networks an affiliate marketer can use, as long as they can cope with the work load. Affiliate marketers can sign up to networks for free and can then partner with different kinds of merchants.
Also, it is wise to be a part of both an affiliate program and network. Find a program that best suits the niche and then join at least one network, in order for your visitors to have more options.
Networks also come in two options: the large networks, and the independent but smaller networks. While in large networks, one can almost always expect the usual things; in independent networks however, an affiliate marketer can enjoy more flexibility and improvement. Another thing, large networks offer a higher quality of programs in their selections compared to independent networks. While larger networks offer a huge array of choices, independent networks offer incentives when joining or using programs.
As an affiliate, it is always wise to be able to watch out for new networks and then quickly check them out or give them a try. Just remember that there are some options in larger networks that cannot be found or available in independent and smaller networks.
Whether it be a program or bunch of affiliate networks used, it is always up to the affiliate’s prerogative on which of the two to choose. It is always best to keep in mind that whatever he or she chooses, it is always aimed for the betterment of the business.

Don’t Start With the Largest Networks: At first, it can be hard to get accepted by the largest affiliate networks, so begin by applying to some that aren’t as well known. Since a well known network may get hundreds of people applying to it every day, they only bother to accept affiliates who can prove they get lots of traffic. When you choose the smaller networks to start with, you’ll see that your application gets approved much faster and without much hassle. You can, of course, try to get into the larger networks as well. But when you get started with the smaller ones, it will give you the confidence to start off your business and later apply to the other high quality networks. What you really want is to begin promoting offers, without spending too much time on the application process. Applying to networks can get frustrating if you get too many rejections, which is why it can be best to start off with ones that are less rigid.
Call the Network: An easy way to increase your chances of getting your application approved by an affiliate network is to pick up the phone and call them as soon as you submit your application.
Some networks have a policy of calling you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be proactive and phone them right away. Not only does this improve your chances of acceptance, but it can also make it happen sooner. You don’t want to talk to any random person who answers the phone, but to the affiliate manager, so you can show him or her that you’re serious and committed about affiliate marketing.
The Source of Your Visitors: You should be ready to tell affiliate managers what part of the world your visitors or traffic comes from. Most network favor traffic from the US, so you want to be able to convince them that’s the source of most of your traffic. For this reason, many affiliate networks are less likely to accept applications from affiliates who don’t live in the US or Canada. You can still get accepted if you live elsewhere, but make sure you tell the manager that you have ways to get US based traffic. Make sure you can tell the affiliate manager how you plan to get traffic so you can overcome any misgivings he or she might have.
That’s about it! These guidelines can make it much easier to get your applications to affiliate networks approved. If any networks reject you, learn from your mistakes and change your approach next time.

1. Commission Junctions(CJ):
Commission Junction was one of the first networks on the Internet. However, over the couple of years, it has gained huge popularity due to the services and facilities that they offer to their publishers. Commission Junction (CJ) is an International network with smashing tracking and paying. You will find almost all programs here. Most retailers or merchants offer pay-per-sale or pay-per-lead system.
